Founder
Hi! I’m Sofia, the founder of Above and Beyond HR.
Over the years, I’ve supported businesses with everything from numbers-focused tasks like payroll and salary benchmarking to people-focused work like recruitment, onboarding, team engagement, and internal communication. I have seen the serious side of HR, and the human side too.
While I’ve always enjoyed the corporate world, it was during my travels over the past four years that I discovered my true passion: helping people thrive. Living and working in different countries, I took on roles far outside the HR bubble — from housekeeping on a remote mine site in northern Australia to managing a busy restaurant in New Zealand. These experiences shaped my understanding of people in a way no office job ever could.
Because the truth is, HR isn’t just about policies and paperwork. It’s about people. And it’s much easier to support people when you truly understand the day-to-day realities of their work.
That’s why I created Above and Beyond HR — I wanted to bring together my love for people and my HR skills. I partner with small businesses and start-ups to create people-focused strategies that work. I won’t just write your contracts and documentation — I’ll sit alongside you, get to know your team, and help you find practical, long-lasting ways to improve your workplace and set your business up for sustainable success.
